MIRANDA KAMAL, ChPCFounder/Head Coach MJKO
AIBA 2 Star (The International Boxing Association); National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Advanced Coaching Diploma Graduate; Chartered Professional Coach; Boxing Ontario Level 1 Official; Retired Amateur Boxer.
Miranda took up the sport of boxing as an adult. The process of learning to box and competing allowed Miranda to heal from a sexual assault that happened to her as a teen. Shortly, after starting her competitive career, Miranda was forced to hang up the gloves due to a serious non-boxing related spinal cord injury. In June 2009, Miranda was rushed to the emergency room, presenting cauda equina syndrome, due to a herniated disc. She had spine surgery that same day. At that moment before the operation, Miranda vowed that, if she recovered from surgery and was able to walk again, she would quit her job as a successful mortgage broker and devote her life to the sport of boxing. She stuck to her word and in October 22, 2010, Mentoring Juniors Kids Organization (MJKO) was founded.
Miranda has been a competitive athlete since she was 11 years old in another sport. She has many National medals, competed at 2 Canada Games, International events and won an Olympic Test Tournament for Atlantic Canada.
Miranda is one of the few women in the world that has an AIBA Two Star Olympic Certification.
Miranda teaches a mix of weekly boxing classes and the social show, 'Throw Down Thursday'.
